Yesterday the City Economic Eommittee and the City Business Coalition held “2007 Shanghai Retail Merchant Congress”. The meeting announced that producing goods street with other 19 streets in East Beijing Road is named as “2007 Shanghai Characteristic Commercial Streets”, agriculture-industry-commerce dapu community with other 19 commerical ceters is named as “2007 Shanghai Commercial Model Communities”.

The characteristic commercial streets are often situated around the big commercial streets, they not only have the use of sharing the people stream and merchandise stream of the big commercial streets but also compensate the vacancies of the big commercial streets by their characteristic merchandise and service. We can also see that recently the development of Shanghai not only pays attention to its prosperity but also cares about the convenience of people by naming the 20 Shanghai Commercial Model Communities. In these communities, there are many brand shops, people can stroll in “small Shanghai” and “small Nanjing Road” for shopping, dining,entertainment and leisure which match harmoniously without going out.
